Key Responsibilities
Care, Support and Development
Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people.

Safeguarding and Risk Management
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Follow safeguarding policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
Recognise, record and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Maintain professional boundaries and promote safe relationships.
Follow individual risk assessments, care plans and behaviour support plans.
Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, challenging behaviour and emergencies.
Ensure accidents, incidents and significant events are accurately recorded and reported.
Leadership and Management
Where undertaking Deputy Manager responsibilities:
Support the Registered/Service Manager with the day-to-day management of the service.
Provide leadership, guidance and support to residential/support workers.
Lead shifts and act as the senior member of staff when required.
Assist with staff rotas and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
Support the induction, training, supervision and development of staff.
Promote a positive, professional and supportive team culture.
Monitor staff performance and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Assist with audits, inspections, monitoring visits and quality assurance activities.
Support continuous improvement within the service.
Key Working and Documentation
Take responsibility for key-working duties where required.
Contribute to the development and review of individual care/support plans.
Maintain accurate daily records, case notes, incident reports and other required documentation.
Ensure records are completed in a timely, factual and professional manner.
Communicate effectively with social workers, local authorities, education providers, health professionals, families and other relevant agencies.
Attend and contribute to team meetings, reviews, handovers and professional meetings.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
Daily Living and Household Responsibilities
Support young people with cooking, budgeting, cleaning, shopping, personal organisation and other practical life skills.
Encourage young people to take appropriate responsibility for their environment.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming and homely environment.
Support young people to attend appointments, education, activities and community events.
Promote healthy lifestyles and positive routines.
Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
Experience within residential childcare, supported accommodation, social care, education or a related setting is desirable.
For Deputy Manager positions, previous supervisory or leadership experience is desirable.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people.
Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and appropriately.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins where required.
Qualifications and Experience
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care or a related discipline.
Management or leadership qualification for Deputy Manager positions.
Experience working within Ofsted-regulated children's services.
Experience supporting young people with complex emotional, behavioural or social needs.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation, regulations and best practice.
