Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Residential Care Worker role based in the Greater Stoke-on-Trent Area.
The Residential Care Worker will provide day-to-day support, supervision, and guidance to children and young people in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting daily routines and assisting with education and recreational activities
- Promoting independence and life skills, and helping young people manage emotions and behavior in a positive way
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans
- Working closely with colleagues and external professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality care
- Upholding safeguarding standards, following organizational policies and participating in training and team meetings
Qualifications
- Ability to build trusting, professional relationships with children and young people, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Skills in supporting emotional well-being, behavior management, and conflict de-escalation in a calm, trauma-informed manner.
- Competence in organizing daily routines, planning activities, and promoting independence and life skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, follow care plans, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles, professional boundaries, and relevant care regulations or willingness to learn.
- Prior experience in residential care, social care, youth work, or similar settings is highly beneficial.
- Relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or childcare (or working towards such a qualification) is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
