As an Occupational Therapist (OT) on our team you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate, to their fullest level, in activities that occupy their daily lives. Your client-base will consist of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as individuals of all other ages and needs.

Job type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 11AM-7PM and Friday, 8AM - 4PM

Work setting: Community and center-based. Daily travel within Whitby clinic and Durham Region.

Take an inside look at what you will do each day:

  • Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests, criterion or curriculum referenced materials, or checklists.
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client, based on assessment results.
  • Develop reports as required.
  • Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices.
  • Collect data and make evidenced-based decisions in treatment.
  • Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy.
  • Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

  • At least 1 year experience working with children with ASD.
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT).
  • Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests, etc.).
  • Member of college (CAOT) or CAOT eligible.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility in scheduling clients.
  • Comfortable with community work and working independently with support from a regional OT team.
  • Must possess a driver's license and access to a vehicle for daily use.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
