As anOccupational Therapist (OT)on our team you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate, to their fullest level, in activities that occupy their daily lives. Your client-base will consist of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as individuals of all other ages and needs.
Job type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 11AM-7PM and Friday, 8AM - 4PM
Work setting: Community and center-based. Daily travel within Whitby clinic and Durham Region
Take an inside look at what you will do each day:
- Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests, criterion or curriculum referenced materials, or checklists
- Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client, based on assessment results
- Develop reports as required
- Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs
- Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals
- Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices
- Collect data and make evidenced-based decisions in treatment
- Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy
- Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions
Here is what you will need to be successful:
- At least 1 year experience working with children with ASD
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests, etc.)
- Member of college (CAOT) or CAOT eligible.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility in scheduling clients
- Comfortable with community work and working independently with support from a regional OT team
- Must possess a driver\'s license and access to a vehicle for daily use
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
