Monarch Education is supporting a welcoming and well-resourced primary school in Leicester/Leicestershire to recruit a committed and creative Year 1 Teacher for two terms from January to August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about early learning, phonics, and building children's confidence as they transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1.
The Role
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
- Support early reading through strong phonics delivery (Little Wandle / Read Write Inc / Letters & Sounds - school dependent)
- Create a warm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Accurately assess pupil progress and adapt teaching to individual needs
- Work closely with the KS1 team, parents and support staff
- Contribute to wider school life and uphold school values
About You
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Experience teaching in Year 1 or KS1 (ECTs with strong placements considered)
- A nurturing, patient and proactive teaching style
- Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
