How to prepare for a job interview at Monarch Education

✨Know Your SEN Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Be ready to discuss specific strategies you've used in the past to support pupils with these needs. This shows that you’re not just familiar with the terms, but you can apply them effectively.

✨Showcase Your Experience

Prepare examples from your previous roles where you’ve successfully supported children with complex needs. Whether it’s implementing behaviour strategies or assisting with personal care, having concrete examples will help you stand out. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses.

✨Communication is Key

Since communication can vary greatly in SEND settings, be ready to discuss how you adapt your communication style. Talk about any non-verbal methods you’ve used and how you engage with pupils who may struggle to express themselves. This demonstrates your flexibility and understanding of diverse communication needs.

✨Be Ready for Scenario Questions

Expect to face scenario-based questions during your interview. Think about how you would handle specific situations, like managing challenging behaviour or supporting a pupil during a sensory overload. Practising these scenarios beforehand will help you respond confidently and show your problem-solving skills.
