Monarch Education is working with a Primary School in Bournville to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time). We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Bournville area of Birmingham. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 weeks of experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Applicants must also hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or an equivalent qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEND both in the classroom and during targeted interventions
- Assisting with the development and implementation of individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Promoting independence and confidence among pupils with diverse needs
- Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress
- Supervising and managing behaviour to create a positive learning environment
- Assisting with personal care and other specific needs where necessary
- Encouraging and facilitating participation in learning activities
Person Specification
- Minimum of 12 weeks of SEND support experience within a primary school setting
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
- Strong understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to support
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of pupils and staff
