Monarch Education is working with a Primary School in Bournville to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time). We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Bournville area of Birmingham. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 weeks of experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Applicants must also hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or an equivalent qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEND both in the classroom and during targeted interventions
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Promoting independence and confidence among pupils with diverse needs
  • Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress
  • Supervising and managing behaviour to create a positive learning environment
  • Assisting with personal care and other specific needs where necessary
  • Encouraging and facilitating participation in learning activities

Person Specification

  • Minimum of 12 weeks of SEND support experience within a primary school setting
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to support
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to the needs of pupils and staff
