Monarch Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in Taunton to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, permanent position starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking school that caters for young people in Years 5-11 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school specialises in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Speech, Communication and Language (SCL) needs. It is part of a well-established multi-academy trust committed to delivering high-quality inclusive education.
The Role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to help pupils access the curriculum, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom-based support to pupils with SEMH and SCL needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
- Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals
About You
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly SEMH, is desirable
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist setting
- Relevant qualifications (Level 2 or equivalent) are desirable but not essential with suitable experience
