We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a lovely and supportive ASD specialist school in Taunton. This is a full-time, long-term role with opportunities to start in June or September 2026.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you will support students both within the school setting and as part of outreach projects in the community. You will be working with pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, supporting their learning, behaviour, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide behaviour support on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Work with students in school and support outreach activities
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour

About the Pupils / Job Specification

The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, which may include:

  • Anxiety, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties
  • Behavioural challenges, including oppositional behaviours
  • Additional needs such as ADHD, attachment disorders, or anxiety disorders
