Monarch Education are working with a supportive secondary school in Swindon that is seeking a confident Maths specialist to join its team for the first term. This full-time role offers the consistency to build positive relationships with pupils, contribute to their progress and become a valued member of the school community.
The role:
- You will teach Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that develop pupils' fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- You will take responsibility for planning and marking throughout the first term, following the school's schemes of work and assessment expectations.
- Depending on experience and the school timetable, there may also be opportunities to teach Key Stage 5.
You will be:
- Planning and delivering high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Marking work, assessing progress and providing constructive feedback
- Adapting lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
- Maintaining a calm, purposeful and well-managed classroom environment
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence in Maths
- Using assessment information to inform future teaching
- Working collaboratively with the Maths department and wider school team
- Following school policies, curriculum guidance and safeguarding procedures
We are looking for someone who is:
- A qualified teacher with QTS, or an experienced Maths teacher with relevant UK classroom experience
- Confident teaching Maths at secondary level, including GCSE content
- Knowledgeable about the UK Mathematics curriculum
- Skilled in classroom and behaviour management
- Organised and able to manage planning, assessment and marking responsibilities
- Positive, reliable and committed to a long-term placement
- Able to inspire pupils of different abilities and backgrounds
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team
Requirements:
- QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification is desirable
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
- Experience teaching in a UK secondary school is preferred
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete registration, compliance and safeguarding checks
