Mentor / Tutor – Complex Needs (Home-Based)
Location: NG22, Home-Based Sessions
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:30pm – 3:30pm
Monarch Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mentor/Tutor to support a secondary-aged student with complex needs through a home-based education package.
This rewarding role involves providing tailored educational and developmental support whilst helping the young person build confidence, engagement, communication and independence skills within a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Student
The student has complex additional needs and would benefit from support that focuses on:
- Sensory-based activities and engagement
- Ball games and interactive learning
- Bucket Time and attention-building activities
- Phonics support
- Life skills development
- Emotional regulation and co-regulation strategies
- Positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong understanding of co-regulation and emotional regulation strategies
- Experience delivering personalised learning activities
- Confidence supporting learners within a home environment
- Knowledge of sensory-based approaches and engagement techniques
- Experience with de-escalation and positive behaviour support
Desirable:
- Seizure awareness/training
- Experience supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) or complex medical needs
- Background in SEND education, care, therapy support or mentoring
