We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Qualified Humanities Teacher (QTS) to join a well-regarded secondary school in Oxford from September 2026. This is a long-term opportunity, perfect for a teacher who is committed to delivering engaging and thought-provoking Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience desirable). This role offers a great opportunity to contribute to a supportive and collaborative department, inspiring students to explore History, Geography, and/or Religious Studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated Humanities lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (specialism in History, Geography, or RE welcomed; KS5 desirable)
- Plan, prepare, and assess pupils' work effectively
- Encourage critical thinking, debate, and independent learning
- Support students of all abilities to achieve their full potential
- Contribute to departmental planning and wider school activities
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- A degree in Humanities or a related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Religious Studies)
- Proven experience teaching Humanities at secondary level
- Strong subject knowledge across one or more Humanities disciplines
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience teaching GCSE Humanities subjects with strong outcomes
- KS5 (A-Level) teaching experience
- Ability to teach across multiple Humanities subjects
- Familiarity with exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR
- Track record of supporting student progress and attainment
