Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision Location: NG1 Area, Nottingham Contract: Full Time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the Role Monarch Education is recruiting a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work within an Alternative Provision setting in the NG1 area. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may face barriers to education due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, anxiety, or previous experiences of mainstream education not meeting their needs. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve their educational goals. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs. Support students to engage with learning and remain focused during lessons. Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils. Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans. Encourage emotional regulation, resilience and social development. Support students both inside and outside the classroom. Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to support pupil progress. Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. Essential Requirements Experience working with children or young people in an education, youth work, care or support setting. A good understanding of SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. A patient, calm and resilient approach. Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs. Passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve positive outcomes. Right to work in the UK. Desirable Experience Previous experience within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEND school or specialist setting. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs. Background in youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care or support work. Team Teach or de-escalation training.
