Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential? We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Northampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with experience working with young people who may face behavioural, emotional, or social challenges.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, and develop positive behaviours both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring support to students.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement across the school.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to implement support strategies.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Encourage attendance, participation, and academic achievement.
- Act as a positive role model for students at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, residential care, mentoring, coaching, or support setting.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating situations effectively.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Genuine passion for supporting students' wellbeing and development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or Cover Supervisor.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, ADHD, ASD, or additional behavioural needs.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, Social Care, or a related field.
