Flexible supply opportunities available across secondary schools in Weston-super-Mare from September. This is an excellent opportunity for confident and adaptable MFL Teachers who are passionate about delivering engaging language lessons and supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

About the Role

We are recruiting enthusiastic MFL Teachers to provide flexible supply cover across secondary schools in Weston-super-Mare from September. This role is ideal for teachers who can deliver high-quality French, Spanish, or general Modern Foreign Languages lessons and quickly build positive relationships with pupils and school staff. You will be responsible for maintaining continuity of learning, following school policies, and creating a positive classroom environment while covering planned lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Key Duties

  • Deliver engaging MFL lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach French, Spanish, or general Modern Foreign Languages depending on school requirements
  • Follow pre-planned lessons and adapt resources where needed
  • Support pupils with language development, confidence, pronunciation, grammar, and written work
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Encourage pupil participation and enthusiasm for language learning
  • Provide clear feedback to teaching staff where required
  • Work flexibly across different secondary school settings in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area

Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages
  • Confident delivering French and/or Spanish lessons to secondary-aged pupils
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to different school environments
  • Positive and professional approach to supply teaching
  • Ability to motivate pupils and promote a love of language learning
  • Organised, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider school team

Experience & Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification is desirable
  • Previous experience teaching MFL within a UK secondary school setting
  • Ability to teach French and/or Spanish across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum and effective behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to complete all necessary compliance and safeguarding checks
