About the Role

Monarch Education are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school setting in Mansfield. This role involves supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with education and develop both socially and emotionally. You will play a key role in providing a safe, structured and supportive learning environment for pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour effectively
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students
  • Encouraging participation and engagement in learning
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and interventions
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient and resilient nature
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with students
  • Flexible and proactive approach
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Desirable

  • Experience in a specialist school, alternative provision or PRU
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or psychology
  • Team Teach or similar training
