Monarch Education are working with a special needs school in Fishponds, Bristol to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is heavily focused on supporting pupils with complex and additional needs, and requires someone who is committed to working consistently, full time in a specialist setting. This is not a mainstream classroom role. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), complex learning needs, SEMH, communication needs, and physical needs. Staff are expected to provide hands-on, structured, and consistent support throughout the school day.
Important - Essential Criteria (Please Read Carefully)
- Full-time availability (Monday to Friday)
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, or relevant transferable experience (e.g. residential care, support work, youth work, or care settings)
- A clear understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behaviours

The role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs - Between the ages of 5-19
- Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex needs
- Assist with personal care and daily routines where required
- Support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Use structured approaches, including routines, visual supports, and sensory strategies
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team
- Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
