We're recruiting for a Science/Maths Teacher for a year-long placement in Frome, starting in September, working 4 days per week. This role would suit an adaptable teacher who can deliver engaging lessons in either Science or Maths (or a blend across both, depending on the timetable). You'll be expected to build strong subject knowledge, support progress and outcomes, and contribute positively to department and wider school life throughout the academic year.
The Role:
- Deliver high-quality Science and/or Maths lessons in line with the school's curriculum and schemes of work
- Plan lessons that meet a range of abilities and help students make sustained progress over the year
- Set, mark, and provide feedback on classwork, homework, and assessments in line with school policy
- Use assessment data to identify gaps, adapt teaching, and support targeted intervention where required
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and contribute to a positive learning environment
- For Science timetables: run safe and engaging practical work, following health & safety guidance and department procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending meetings and taking part in wider school activities as appropriate
Requirements:
- QTS/QTLS (or substantial UK secondary teaching experience in Science and/or Maths)
- A relevant degree/specialism in Science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and/or Mathematics
- Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 is preferred; KS5 experience is an advantage (depending on timetable)
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and confidently
- A consistent approach to behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships with students
- Reliable, organised, and committed to a year-long placement (4 days per week)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
