Role Overview
We are looking for a PE/PSHE Teacher to join a secondary school in Frome on a year-long placement from September, working 3 days per week. You will teach KS3, delivering high-quality PE and PSHE that supports pupils' physical development, confidence, and personal, social and health education. This role would suit a qualified teacher or confident practitioner seeking a stable, part-week timetable, or someone looking to gain long-term secondary experience within a well-organised department.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging KS3 PE and PSHE lessons in line with the curriculum
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes participation and wellbeing
- Assess progress and provide clear feedback to support pupil development
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and follow school policies consistently
- Ensure safe practice in PE, including equipment checks, risk assessment, and appropriate supervision
- Work collaboratively with department colleagues and communicate effectively with staff and parents where required

- Confident delivery of PE and/or PSHE to KS3 learners
- Strong classroom and behaviour management, with a calm, consistent approach
- Ability to motivate pupils of varying abilities and encourage active participation

Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/coach experience (desirable, depending on the school)
- Recent experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally within KS3
- Understanding of safeguarding requirements and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Confidence delivering PE safely, with knowledge of appropriate health & safety practices
- Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
