As a Supply Sports Coach, you will support the PE department in delivering engaging lessons and sports activities across KS3 and KS4. You will assist with warm ups, drills, and small group coaching, helping students develop fitness, skills, teamwork, and confidence. A key element of the role involves working with students who may require additional encouragement or behavioural support. You will help them stay engaged, regulate their emotions, and build positive routines around participation and physical activity. You'll play an important part in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment where all students feel confident taking part, regardless of ability. You may also support extracurricular clubs, sports teams, and school fixtures, contributing to the school's commitment to active lifestyles and broad enrichment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the delivery of PE lessons and a variety of sports activities across KS3 and KS4
- Lead dynamic warm ups, skill development activities, and focused coaching for small groups
- Encourage positive attitudes to teamwork, participation, and perseverance
- Help students remain engaged, confident, and ready to take part in practical sessions
- Prepare, organise, and safely manage sports equipment and activity spaces
- Offer guidance and encouragement to students who may need additional support with behaviour or motivation
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive school atmosphere grounded in shared values
- Champion active lifestyles, wellbeing, and the development of character through sport
- Experience working with children or young people (ideally within a sports or coaching environment)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate, encourage, and build rapport
