Monarch Education are working with a supportive secondary school in Bristol that is seeking a confident Maths specialist to join its team for the first term. This full-time role offers the consistency to build positive relationships with pupils, contribute to their progress and become a valued member of the school community.

The role:

  • You will teach Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that develop pupils' fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • You will take responsibility for planning and marking throughout the first term, following the school's schemes of work and assessment expectations.
  • Depending on experience and the school timetable, there may also be opportunities to teach Key Stage 5.

You will be:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Marking work, assessing progress and providing constructive feedback
  • Adapting lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
  • Maintaining a calm, purposeful and well-managed classroom environment
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence in Maths
  • Using assessment information to inform future teaching
  • Working collaboratively with the Maths department and wider school team
  • Following school policies, curriculum guidance and safeguarding procedures

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS, or an experienced Maths teacher with relevant UK classroom experience
  • Confident teaching Maths at secondary level, including GCSE content
  • Knowledgeable about the UK Mathematics curriculum
  • Skilled in classroom and behaviour management
  • Organised and able to manage planning, assessment and marking responsibilities
  • Positive, reliable and committed to a long-term placement
  • Able to inspire pupils of different abilities and backgrounds
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team

Requirements:

  • QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification is desirable
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
  • Experience teaching in a UK secondary school is preferred
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to complete registration, compliance and safeguarding checks
