About the Role
We are recruiting experienced Careers Guidance Advisers to provide flexible support across secondary schools and education settings in Bristol from September. This role involves delivering high‑quality careers information, advice, and guidance to pupils, supporting schools with their careers provision, and helping young people understand the pathways available to them. You will work with students on a one‑to‑one and group basis, encouraging aspiration, confidence, and informed decision‑making.
Key Duties
- Deliver impartial careers information, advice, and guidance to pupils
- Support students with education, training, apprenticeship, and employment pathways
- Provide one‑to‑one guidance interviews and small‑group careers sessions
- Help pupils develop confidence, employability skills, and clear next‑step plans
- Work alongside school careers leaders, pastoral teams, and teaching staff
- Support careers events, workshops, employer encounters, and progression activities
- Maintain accurate records of careers guidance sessions and student outcomes
- Contribute to the school's wider careers programme in line with good practice
Skills & Personal Qualities
- Strong knowledge of post‑16 and post‑18 pathways, including further education, apprenticeships, training, and employment
- Ability to deliver impartial, student‑centred guidance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident working with young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities
- Highly organised, with strong record‑keeping and administrative skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across different school environments
- Positive, professional, and able to build strong relationships quickly
- Passionate about raising aspirations and supporting positive learner outcomes
Experience & Requirements
- Previous experience delivering careers guidance within a school, college, or youth‑focused setting is essential
- Careers guidance qualification, such as Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development, is desirable
- Knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and current careers education expectations is advantageous
- Experience supporting students with applications, CVs, personal statements, or interview preparation
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete all necessary compliance and safeguarding checks
