Monarch Education is working with a complex needs school in the BS4 area of Bristol to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant. The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and associated physical or communication needs. Pupils may require support with mobility, personal care and sensory-based learning.
This role involves working closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting both their learning and day-to-day care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one support for pupils with complex needs
- Support small groups with sensory and structured learning activities
- Assist with personal care where required
- Support feeding, mobility and use of specialist equipment
- Help pupils engage with learning through adapted and practical activities
- Follow individual support plans and routines
- Promote communication using methods such as PECS, Makaton or visual aids
- Work alongside teachers and therapists to support pupil development
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff
- Experience working with children or young people with complex needs, SLD or PMLD
- Experience in a school, care or specialist setting
- Comfortable supporting personal care
- Patient, consistent and able to follow structured routines
- Able to work as part of a wider support team
