We're seeking a confident and adaptable DT Supply Teacher to support secondary schools in and around Bridgwater from September. This role suits a qualified teacher (or an experienced cover supervisor) who can deliver Design & Technology across KS3-KS4, balancing practical learning with clear explanations and strong routines. You'll work across a range of school environments, keeping pupils engaged while maintaining high standards for safety and behaviour.
The Role
- Deliver engaging DT lessons, including practical workshop activities and theory where required
- Set up, supervise, and tidy learning spaces safely, following school policies for tools, equipment, and materials
- Demonstrate processes clearly and support pupils to work independently and safely
- Adapt quickly to different schools, resources, and schemes of work (e.g., Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Food Technology)
- Maintain positive behaviour for learning and follow lesson plans where provided
Requirements
- QTS/QTLS (or substantial UK secondary teaching experience delivering DT)
- Strong DT subject knowledge and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- A sound understanding of workshop/classroom health & safety and safe supervision of practical work
- Confident behaviour management, with a calm and consistent approach
- Flexible, reliable, and professional in a supply setting
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
