Monarch Education is working in partnership with a secondary school in Dudley to appoint a dedicated Learning Mentor. About The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students, staff, and external agencies to promote student wellbeing, remove barriers to learning, and support personal development. Your role will involve providing targeted support to students facing challenges that impact their academic progress and social integration. You will help create an inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students' emotional, social, and academic development
  • Identify and help overcome barriers affecting student progress
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student behaviour and engagement
  • Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing
  • Promote inclusive practices within the school community
  • Assist in managing behavioural issues and supporting positive behaviour strategies
  • Participate in meetings to discuss student needs and progress

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a Learning Mentor role or similar is essential to be considered for this position
  • Experience supporting students with academic and social/emotional challenges
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • Empathy and understanding of student needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, mental health, and barriers to learning
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 support qualification) are advantageous but not essential
