Lecturer/Associate Professor in Interpreting Available from 1 June 2015Overview The post involves convening and delivering teaching on postgraduate modules providing professional preparation for trainee interpreters, and contributing to the management and administration of postgraduate interpreting programmes, especially in terms of student recruitment.Responsibilities Convene and deliver teaching on postgraduate modules that provide professional preparation for trainee interpreters.Contribute to the management and administration of postgraduate interpreting programmes, particularly regarding student recruitment.Take on programme management responsibilities.Communicate effectively with students in both small and large groups; demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills; and have strong IT skills.Bring professional experience of interpreting in conference settings with at least two working languages, including Chinese and English, and contribute high-level professional links to complement those of the existing team.Demonstrate a keen interest in and understanding of the requirements of interpreter training.Potential to undertake doctoral supervision (desirable).There will be a formal university interview for this post; candidates may be required to make a presentation to the School about their teaching and interpreting.The expected starting date is 1 June, with some flexibility if needed.Qualifications Postgraduate qualification in interpreting.Completed PhD (or equivalent) in Translation or Interpreting Studies.Professional experience of interpreting in conference settings with at least two working languages, including Chinese and English; high-level professional links to complement the existing team.Keen interest in and understanding of the requirements of interpreter training.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with students in both small and large groups.Good organisational and time-management skills; good IT skills.Potential to undertake doctoral supervision (desirable).Enquiries Informal enquiries may be made to Dr Sara Ramos Pinto (Director of Translation Studies), tel +44 (0)113 3435271, emails.ramospinto@leeds.ac.uk.
