Role Description
The Senior Tailor role is a full-time, on-site position based in London. The Senior Tailor will carry out advanced tailoring and dressmaking tasks, including garment construction, alterations, fittings, and finishing to a high standard. Day-to-day responsibilities include consulting with clients and learners, assessing fit and design requirements, and advising on sustainable fabric and construction options. The role also involves supporting workshops, mentoring less experienced team members, maintaining a safe and organized workspace, and contributing to the development of Momso Sustainable's apparel projects. The Senior Tailor will collaborate closely with the team to ensure high-quality, customer-centered service aligned with the organization's sustainable and community-focused values.
Qualifications
- Strong tailoring expertise, with advanced skills in Tailoring and Fitting for a variety of garment types and body shapes.
- Proficient in Dressmaking, including pattern adaptation, garment construction, and high-quality finishing techniques.
- Effective Communication and Customer Service skills to consult with clients, support learners, and collaborate within a diverse team.
- Experience working in a studio or workshop environment, with attention to health and safety and equipment care.
- Commitment to sustainable fashion practices, garment repair, and long-lasting construction methods.
- Ability to mentor and guide less experienced sewists, offering clear instruction and constructive feedback.
- Previous experience in a senior tailoring or alterations role; formal training in tailoring, dressmaking, or fashion is beneficial.
