We're looking for someone passionate about all things retail media to join our global centre of excellence team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a #1 client in the world's largest media agency, on the fastest growing channel!
The Global Retail Media Director will lead the digital transformation for one of the world's most iconic beverage portfolios. You won't just manage retail media; you'll define the global blueprint for how brands like Guinness and Tanqueray win in the digital aisle.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance & Transformation: Support Diageo in the implementation of Retail Media principles and governance across the globe. Focus on Retail Media capability building in emerging regions and support them in their journey to accelerate and transform in the Retail Media landscape.
- Budget Sufficiency: Lead spend tracking and taxonomy alignment across Diageo and agency teams. Partner with global and regional leads to secure adequate Retail Media budgets for strategic retailers. Guide consultancy initiatives to validate commercial sufficiency of Retail Media investment.
- Measurement: Lead and then oversee the global roll-out of Retail Media initiatives. Retail Media tech stack knowledge and application. Understand the difference between clean rooms, bid management solutions, Ad Tech partners and be prepared to make recommendations on where to focus and drive growth.
- Partnerships: Advise and support key conversations with senior partners, customers and retailers, building robust relationships on behalf of the client. Lead regional enablement with regional strategic retailers to drive RM performance. Expand integration of media partners (TTD, Meta) into the retail space and unlock 1PD test capabilities.
- Talent & Upskilling: Aligning brand/commerce teams and planning leads, help develop a planning workstream where Retail is included as part of general media planning processes. Evolve brand safety and inventory-quality assessment processes in response to dynamic retail and media conditions.
- Raising the Bar & Community Building: Drive global award submissions and support with entry development. Share POVs on industry trends (e.g., tech, mergers, commerce/media overlap). Build a global community of Retail Media experts within Diageo's agency ecosystem.
Candidate Profile
Experience Requirements: Experience across retail media, digital media and ecommerce roles across global/regional markets. 2+ years of this experience at minimum to be focused on retail media specifically. Hands-on experience with key Retail Media platforms (e.g., Amazon Ads, CitrusAd, Criteo Retail Media, Walmart Connect, Instacart, TTD, Meta). Proven ability working across upper and lower funnel media formats — from awareness-driving display/video to ROAS-focused search and sponsored product listings. Strong background in collaborating with brand teams and commerce teams to align retail media to broader marketing objectives. Demonstrated ability to build strategic content, playbooks and frameworks that influence and drive change with senior clients.
Skills & Attributes: Retail media and commerce expert, passionate about the evolution of this channel and with deep strategic knowledge in this area. Commercial acumen: deeply analytical with the ability to assess ROI, budget alignment, and growth levers. Global mindset: experience working with culturally diverse teams, and sensitivity to regional media maturity and norms. Strong communicator and influencer — able to simplify complexity and bring clarity to ambiguous, evolving situations. Proactive, structured, and outcome-oriented: able to drive strategic programs from vision to execution.
