About Moment Energy Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it. Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone. The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy. Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact. We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale. Now is the moment. Join us.

The Role

The Battery Sourcing Lead will play a critical role in building and managing Moment Energy’s battery supply network. You will identify potential sources of retired and end-of-life EV batteries, proactively develop relationships with manufacturers and other industry partners, and coordinate the movement of battery packs from source to their next destination. This role is highly relationship-driven and requires someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, cold contacting potential partners, staying informed on developments across the EV and battery industry, and identifying opportunities before they become widely available. You will work closely with our Operations, Engineering, and Leadership teams to understand our battery needs, secure supply, and ensure each battery pack is tracked and routed appropriately once it enters our network.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build battery supply partnerships with EV manufacturers, automotive companies, battery suppliers, recyclers, fleet operators, and other organizations that may have retired or surplus EV batteries.
  • Proactively cold contact and develop relationships with potential battery suppliers and partners.
  • Monitor industry news, product announcements, recalls, vehicle retirement timelines, fleet changes, and other developments to identify when battery supply may become available.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential battery sources, tracking upcoming opportunities and key contacts.
  • Work directly with manufacturers and partners to understand the quantity, type, condition, location, and timing of available battery packs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to arrange battery pickups and transportation.
  • Organize and maintain accurate records of where each battery pack comes from, where it is going, and what happens to it throughout the process.
  • Coordinate internally to determine the appropriate next destination and use of each battery pack based on its condition, specifications, and Moment Energy's operational needs.
  • Build repeatable processes for battery sourcing, intake, tracking, and handoff as our supply network scales.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing battery suppliers to support recurring and long-term supply.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to understand upcoming battery requirements and align sourcing activities with production and development needs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Moment Energy's battery sourcing network across North America.
  • Stay current on the EV, battery, automotive, and energy storage industries to anticipate changes in battery availability and emerging sourcing opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates on sourcing activity, upcoming supply opportunities, partnerships, and potential risks to battery availability.

The Candidate

We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, business development, procurement, automotive, battery, EV, energy storage, recycling, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and develop new business partnerships from the ground up.
  • Comfortable with cold outreach, including phone calls, email, LinkedIn, and other forms of direct engagement.
  • Strong understanding of or interest in the EV, battery, automotive, or energy storage industries.
  • Highly proactive and resourceful, with the ability to identify opportunities that may not be immediately obvious.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to monitor industry developments and translate them into sourcing opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment where processes are still being built.
  • Willingness to travel as-needed to meet suppliers, manufacturers, and other industry partners.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Existing relationships within the EV, automotive, battery, or energy storage industries.
  • Experience working directly with automotive OEMs, battery manufacturers, fleet operators, recyclers, or dismantlers.
  • Experience coordinating transportation or logistics for batteries or other specialized equipment.
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.

  • We Think and Act like Owners: We’re self-starters that proactively embrace new challenges along with personal and collective ownership of responsibilities in the organization. We focus on growth, not titles, and we do what needs to be done.
