Freetrade’s mission is to become the default place to invest. Investing has been too complicated and expensive for too long, keeping millions from making the most of their savings. We’re changing that. We’re building our team and looking for people who are excited to reshape how our customers invest and grow their wealth. If you’re driven by solving complex problems and building innovative products, you’ll fit right in.

2025 is a big year for us. In January, we announced a game-changing deal to become part of the IG Group. We’ll continue to operate as an independent business while gaining access to the resources and support of an established leader in the space. This year, we’re accelerating our roadmap and taking our products to the next level. We’re building new features like mutual funds, bonds, and family investment tools. We’re also exploring how we can leverage AI to deliver an even better experience for our customers.

As Freetrade continues to scale and handle increasing volumes of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) — now exceeding 1 million records — and navigate expanding regulatory expectations, the need for a dedicated privacy expert has never been greater. We’re looking for a Senior Data Privacy Analyst to build, formalise, and operationalise our data privacy program. This role is critical to safeguarding customer trust, supporting secure product growth, and ensuring compliance with UK and international privacy regulations. You’ll play a central role in shaping how we manage, classify, and protect data across the business from engineering and marketing to customer operations, and act as a key advisor on privacy-by-design initiatives.

About you...

You’re a hands-on privacy expert with deep knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles, backed by experience implementing privacy programs in fast-moving, regulated environments. You’re equally comfortable interpreting legal requirements and translating them into clear, actionable steps for technical and non-technical teams. You thrive on building processes from scratch, collaborating across departments, and enabling responsible innovation.

You should have:

  • 5-7 years of proven experience working in a data privacy, compliance, or risk-focused role
  • Strong understanding of GDPR (UK and EU) and other relevant data protection frameworks
  • Experience with privacy-by-design, DPIAs, and handling data subject access requests
  • Familiarity with privacy tech tools, data classification, and access control
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive PII data dictionary, including mapping data locations and ensuring ROPA compliance
  • Lead data classification initiatives and enforce proper data handling protocols
  • Translate regulatory obligations into technical requirements, working with marketing, data, and engineering teams
  • Report on compliance progress, particularly around GDPR UK and EU requirements
  • Establish agreements with data owners and stewards to enforce accountability
  • Work with Customer Success to process data subject requests (e.g. right to be forgotten)
  • Ensure privacy-by-design practices are integrated into product development and conduct DPIAs as required
  • Assess privacy risks of third-party vendors and confirm GDPR alignment
  • Provide training and awareness sessions to relevant functions across the business
  • Define and enforce data retention and classification policies
  • Supervise internal rollout and monitoring of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Manage privacy incidents end-to-end: detection, response, remediation, and regulatory reporting
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to address and resolve data-related issues
