We are looking for a reliable and safety‑focused Packaging Operative to support the day‑to‑day running of our packaging lines. Reporting to the Packaging Shift Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring high standards of safety, quality and hygiene are maintained at all times. This is a hands-on role that involves operating packaging machinery, using FLT machinery, handling chemicals, and supporting continuous improvement through following SOPs and writing and reviewing risk assessments.

The successful candidate will be working 40 hours a week on a fixed PM shift (14:00 – 22:00) but will need to be flexible to cover alternative shifts as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate packaging lines safely and in line with SOPs, including line start‑up, running, troubleshooting, shutdown and changeovers, to meet daily production plans while working responsibly and considerately with team members.
  • Carry out cleaning activities to required hygiene standards, including CIP operations, deep/manual cleans of equipment and work areas, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform quality checks and visual inspections to ensure product quality, weight accuracy, labelling accuracy and compliance, reporting any issues such as breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain plant hygiene standards and ensure only appropriate, fit‑for‑purpose containers are used for filling, keeping accurate records using SAP and Excel systems.
  • Handle materials and equipment safely, including use of FLT, chemical handling, loading and unloading trailers, scanning products and maintaining accurate keg inventory.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on machines, in line with WCSC principles, providing flexible support across all packaging areas as trained.
About You:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Valid FLT licence and experience using FLT machinery.
  • Basic IT skills, with confidence using computer‑based systems.
  • A strong team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene and quality.
