The Electronic Systems business unit is a segment of Molex's Aerospace & Defense Solutions division. With primary locations in California, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania USA and Cumbernauld UK, we design and manufacture high performance mission critical electronics.

We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team based onsite at our UK Headquarters in Cumbernauld.

What You Will Do

  • Design the mechanical hardware used on our products including air‑cooled, liquid‑cooled and conduction‑cooled heatsinks, fansinks, PCIe compliant brackets and stand‑alone electrical enclosures.
  • Use SolidWorks 3D modelling tool and its associated tool chain (PDM Vault, Visualize).
  • Work with PCB layout and simulation teams to ensure a robust product that meets the design specification.
  • Work in our lab to take designs through assembly check‑fits.
  • Assist with production handover and support for released products.
  • Document test plans, Engineering manuals and production documents in accordance with company procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
  • Proven experience in developing mechanical designs for the electronic industry.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modelling tool.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFT.
  • Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to multi‑task, problem solve as well as develop and meet project schedules.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
