We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our European Finance team. You will be working closely with the shared services team and will be an integral part of the European finance team in Wokingham, UK. Reporting to the European Financial Controller, you will be supporting the financial accounting of all the European legal entities, ensuring compliance with both local and US GAAP across statutory and management accounting. The role is based on-site in our Winnersh site.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting cycles collaborating closely with the shared services, the European Finance team in UK and the US Corporate team. This will include weekly bank reconciliations, accounts payable postings and query resolutions, accounts receivable postings and query resolutions, journal postings, accruals and prepayments, cost centre reviews and general query resolution, working to a tight month end timetable.
- Aid in the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with local GAAP per each European entity and support accurate tax filings for VAT, Corporate income tax and withholding taxes by providing the appropriate reporting or calculations.
- Contribute to a strong control environment by performing balance sheet reconciliations, creating standard operating procedures, providing audit evidence and support, and working within a US driven control environment.
- Support the wider European Finance team in adhoc finance activities ensuring that the department has coverage at key points in the year.
- Partake in a culture of continuous improvement. Working with the wider finance and business function to ensure that processes are working smoothly and efficiently and are fully documented.
Essential Requirements
- Part or qualified AAT
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Experience of working in a fast-paced accounting team
- Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in finance systems and Excel. Experience with Oracle financials preferred but not essential.
