About the Specifications Technologist job
Working as part of Mokate UK team this role is responsible for preparing and submitting external customer specifications and managing artwork processes, including updates to nutrition and packaging data.
Key tasks
- Take full responsibility for preparing, checking, and submitting external customer specifications, including generating and submitting pack copy to meet customer and legal requirements.
- Manage the artwork approval process, ensuring all back-of-pack information is accurate and fully compliant with labelling policies and legislation and meet deadlines to ensure all submissions and artwork are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain all internal and external packaging data, ensuring full compliance with Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting.
- Consistently apply customer technical policies, current labelling standards, and regulatory requirements to all specifications and pack copy to ensure full compliance.
- Work closely with the Technical and NPD teams outside the UK in our factories.
About You
The successful candidate shall ideally have a degree in food science or nutrition. Experience of working with major retailers either in technical administration or specification writing. A passion for food and an appreciation of requirements in developing high quality retail products.

The Part Time Specifications Technologist is paying up to £38,000 Pro Rata according to your experience. The working hours are 3 days per week, this could be 4 shorter days. Our office is in Edinburgh – the role offers hybrid or could be homeworking.
