This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that was established in 1990 who are trusted by companies of all sizes in the UK and abroad, supplying to manufacturing, food services, wholesale and retail. We are looking for a Specification Technologist, serving as a key point of contact between internal and external teams. This role is crucial for managing product data, maintaining compliance with regulatory and customer standards. As a Specification Technologist, you will uphold our commitment to product quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Skills and Experience required

  • Proven experience as a Specification Technologist or similar role in the food industry
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently
  • Proficient in using specification databases and related software with excellent IT skills
  • Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to details

Key Duties

  • Update and maintain detailed product specifications to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and internal standards
  • Validate product labels to ensure they accurately reflect specifications and comply with labelling regulations and legal requirements
  • Monitor food safety alerts, conduct horizon scanning, and take necessary corrective actions
  • Stay informed on changes in food legislation and proactively adjust specifications and processes to maintain compliance
  • Provide technical support to customers regarding product specifications, allergens, and compliance issues
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Technical teams to gather necessary inputs and align on specification requirements
  • Address discrepancies or non-conformance issues in product specifications and implement corrective actions
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and tasks assigned
