As an Event Director, you will provide strategic leadership across the Event Practice, overseeing the delivery of complex B2B event programmes while driving innovation, operational excellence, and team development. You will lead senior client relationships, contribute to business growth through proposals and pitches, and ensure event strategies align with broader agency objectives. Working closely with agency leadership, you will mentor teams, support commercial performance, and identify opportunities to strengthen and grow the Events Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Proposal & Pitch Leadership
    • Lead strategic event proposals and high-profile client pitches
    • Support teams in developing creative and commercially viable event solutions
    • Mentor team members on pitch strategy and presentation delivery
  • Event Strategy & Planning
    • Oversee the planning and execution of event programmes from concept through delivery
    • Ensure event strategies align with client objectives, audience engagement goals, and agency standards
    • Guide teams on attendee experience, operational delivery, and event quality
  • Vendor & Partner Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, venues, and production partners
    • Support negotiations for major vendor agreements and long-term partnerships
    • Ensure supplier solutions align with event objectives and budgets
  • Risk Management & Onsite Leadership
    • Oversee risk assessment and contingency planning across event activity
    • Provide senior support for operational issues and onsite decision-making
    • Ensure events are delivered smoothly and to a high standard
  • Post-Event Reporting & Financial Oversight
    • Oversee event evaluation, reporting, and performance analysis
    • Review budgets, forecasting, profitability, and resource allocation
    • Support teams with financial decision-making and commercial accountability
  • Client & Team Leadership
    • Develop and maintain strong senior client relationships
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement
    • Mentor and lead Event Managers and wider event teams
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Practice Development
    • Support the agency’s external positioning within the event marketing sector
    • Drive innovation, process improvements, and best practices across the Events Practice
    • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Preferable bachelor's degree or equivalent in Event Management, Business, Marketing, or related field
  • 8+ years’ experience within an event marketing agency environment, preferably within B2B technology
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, complex event programmes and campaigns
  • Strong leadership, commercial, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience contributing to proposals, pitches, and strategic client discussions
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in event management platforms, project management tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Flexibility to support onsite event delivery, including evenings and weekends
