About the Role: We are actively looking for a Civil Engineer to join either our UK or Spain office. As part of the Civil Group, the Civil Engineer will specialize in the detailed design of marine infrastructure, with a focus on ports, terminals, and waterfront developments. This role involves technical design of grading, drainage, and wet utilities, contributing to multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for international and domestic clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead or support detailed design of marine onshore infrastructure including access roads, grading plans, stormwater systems, and utility networks.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports using industry-standard design software.
- Develop design packages for planning approvals, tender documentation, and construction.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (structural, geotechnical, coastal, electrical) and external consultants to ensure integrated and constructible design solutions.
- Interface with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical input during design phases.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments including topographic, hydrologic, and geotechnical analysis.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks, including port authority and environmental requirements.
- Support QA/QC processes and contribute to internal design reviews.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and design schedules.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development across the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in civil infrastructure design, ideally within a consultancy and marine/port environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and drainage design tools.
- Proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Chartered status or working toward chartership with ICE or equivalent body.
Required Skills:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D – for grading, alignment, and utility design.
- MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage – for stormwater and drainage modeling.
- HEC-RAS / HEC-HMS – for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
- SWMM (EPA) – for urban drainage and stormwater modeling.
- Navisworks / Revit / BIM 360 – for coordination and BIM workflows.
- Bluebeam Revu – for markup and document review.
- Microsoft Excel & Word – for calculations, reporting, and documentation.
- GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) – for spatial analysis and mapping.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in port and terminal design, including pavement design, stormwater management, and utility coordination.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows, GIS, and marine infrastructure standards.
- Chartered status or working toward chartership with ICE or equivalent body.
