About the Role
We are actively looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join either our UK or Spain office. As part of the Geotechnical Group, the Geotechnical Engineer will perform geotechnical design services for waterfront structures including piers, wharves, quay walls, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 years of experience working as a geotechnical engineer in a team environment participating in the production of calculations, construction drawings, material specifications, and construction support services and should be familiar with Eurocodes and international geotechnical codes.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical desk study assessment and identify possible geotechnical project risks
- Prepare specifications for ground investigations and provide support during ground investigation works (e.g. prepare or review laboratory test schedules, liaise with ground investigation contractor)
- Review ground investigation information and develop design soil profiles and material parameters
- Perform geo-structural analysis and design of waterfront structures, including bulkheads, deep foundations, including jetties, and flood control structures
- Perform earthworks, reclamation and ground improvement design
- Perform slope stability assessment, including breakwaters, revetments & dredge slopes
- Perform pile design, including axial and lateral performance & interpretation of pile testing results
- Design soil retaining structures, such as quay walls and other waterfront structures
- Perform geotechnical seismic design of structures and assessment of liquefaction potential
- Coordinate plan details with engineers and drafting technicians
- Prepare specifications, such as for piling, ground improvement, fill materials, settlement monitoring etc.
- Work closely with other disciplines, such as coastal engineers, structural engineers, project managers etc., on multidiscipline projects
- Prepare design calculations and check calculations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering is required
- Master’s of Science in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred
- A minimum of 4 years of industry experience
- Familiarity with geotechnical software such as finite element analysis (such as Plaxis), slope stability and seepage analysis (such as GeoStudio), settlement analysis (such as Settle3) and others preferred
