Job Description:
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Port Planner to join our London, Farnham or European Offices (Hamburg, Rotterdam or Spain). As part of the Planner Group, the Port Planner will be responsible for planning, analysis, and design of port cargo facilities, with a specific emphasis on container terminals, but also with an understanding of Ro-Ro, energy, breakbulk and bulk terminal operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Knowledge of planning, operational analysis and design development of container terminal operations and infrastructure improvements
- Ability to Identify, analyze, and prepare terminal optimization plans including new container handling systems
- Familiarity with due diligence studies for new terminals, retrofit terminals and/or port systems
- Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments both independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to isolate key issues and draw sound conclusions
- Proficiency in the use of Excel and PowerPoint
- Proactive, enquiring approach
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders of all levels
- A European language (in addition to English) is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel is also required

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Planning
- 3 to 6 years of port planning, engineering and management experience; required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel
- Work eligibility for the UK or European Union
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
