Role Overview
As Account Director, Fashion Communications, you will lead a portfolio of premium and luxury fashion accounts, taking responsibility for client relationships, strategic planning, team leadership and the delivery of high-impact communications programmes.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Fashion, you will act as the senior day-to-day lead for your clients, building trusted relationships and ensuring consistently excellent service and results across PR, media relations, talent, partnerships, events and activations.
You will work closely with the Associate Director to develop client strategy, bringing your understanding of each client, the media landscape and wider fashion and cultural trends to the strategic planning process.
Once agreed, you will take the lead in translating that strategy into clear account plans, directing the Senior Account Manager and wider account team to ensure effective delivery against client objectives and KPIs.
You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day health and performance of your accounts, identifying opportunities, anticipating challenges and ensuring that work is appropriately prioritised and resourced.
You will work closely with the Associate Director on commercial, contractual, resourcing and significant client matters.
As a senior member of the Fashion team, you will manage and develop the Senior Account Manager and provide direction and mentorship to the wider account team, creating clear accountability while supporting individual development and progression.
This is a full-time position, requiring five days per week, with a hybrid working pattern of three days in-office and up to two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior day-to-day lead across allocated fashion accounts, building strong, trusted relationships with clients.
- Take ownership of the overall health, performance and quality of service across your client portfolio.
- Lead key client meetings, presentations, seasonal reviews and planning sessions.
- Provide confident, informed counsel to clients across communications, media, talent and wider brand opportunities.
- Ensure client expectations, objectives and agreed deliverables are clearly understood by the account team.
- Anticipate client needs, challenges and opportunities, taking proactive action where required.
- Ensure consistently high standards of client service and delivery across all accounts.
- Maintain oversight of client satisfaction and raise significant commercial, contractual or relationship matters with the Associate Director.
- 2. Strategy & Communications Planning
- Work closely with the Associate Director to develop integrated communications strategies that support clients’ brand and commercial objectives.
- Bring strong client knowledge, editorial insight and understanding of the wider fashion and cultural landscape to the strategic planning process.
- Lead the translation of agreed strategies into clear seasonal plans, campaigns, activity calendars and account deliverables.
- Guide narrative development, identifying compelling brand stories, media hooks and PR opportunities.
- Ensure strategies are effectively communicated to and understood by the Senior Account Manager and wider account team.
- Regularly review account activity against strategy, identifying opportunities to evolve plans in response to results, cultural moments and changes within the media landscape.
- Ensure all activity remains focused on agreed client objectives and KPIs.
- 3. Media & Industry Relations
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with fashion editors, journalists, stylists and relevant industry stakeholders.
- Use your network and industry understanding to create meaningful opportunities for clients.
- Provide senior editorial direction and insight to the Senior Account Manager and wider account team.
- Identify relevant cultural moments, fashion cycles, industry developments and emerging media opportunities.
- Ensure proactive media relations remain central to account activity and that teams consistently deliver strong earned-media results.
- Support the team with senior-level feature pitching and media engagement where appropriate.
- Ensure media strategies reflect both client objectives and the changing nature of the fashion media landscape.
- Directly manage and develop the Senior Account Manager, providing clear direction, regular feedback and opportunities for progression.
- Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to the wider account team.
- Ensure clear roles, responsibilities and accountability across each client account.
- Oversee delegation and prioritisation, ensuring workloads are appropriately managed and deadlines are met.
- Ensure the Senior Account Manager is effectively managing and developing Account Managers, Account Executives and junior team members.
- Review team output and maintain strong quality control across client work.
- Lead relevant account and team meetings, ensuring priorities, actions and responsibilities are clear.
- Work with the Associate Director on team resourcing, performance and development requirements.
- Support team appraisals and check-ins as required.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive and high-performance team culture.
- 5. Talent & Partnerships
- Maintain and develop relationships with relevant talent, VIP stylists, agents, influencers and cultural stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the Talent & Partnerships team and Associate Director to develop appropriate talent and KOL strategies for clients.
- Identify partnerships and talent opportunities that elevate brand storytelling, visibility and cultural relevance.
- Provide senior oversight of VIP dressing, client seeding and talent engagement programmes.
- Ensure target lists remain relevant and evolve in response to changes in talent, culture and client objectives.
- Collaborate with Social and Digital teams to ensure PR, talent and digital activity work together effectively.
- Ensure talent and partnership recommendations remain appropriate to client brand values and wider communications strategy.
- 6. Product, Sample & Showroom Management
- Maintain senior oversight of seasonal sample planning and asset management across allocated accounts.
- Ensure the Senior Account Manager and wider team effectively coordinate product placements, editorial requests, sample trafficking and seeding programmes.
- Ensure collections and client assets are managed accurately and efficiently across internal systems.
- Maintain oversight of showroom presentation, ensuring collections are merchandised in accordance with client directives and brand standards.
- Ensure strong quality control across sample management and showroom activity.
- Address or escape operational issues that could affect client delivery.
- 7. Events & Activations
- Lead the account team in the planning and delivery of client events, press days and activations.
- Ensure events are strategically aligned with agreed client communications and storytelling objectives.
- Provide direction to the Senior Account Manager on critical paths, timelines, budgets, staffing and guest strategies.
- Maintain oversight of event delivery, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Provide senior support on suppliers, negotiations, contracts and complex event requirements where necessary.
- Ensure targeted media, talent and KOL guest strategies support the objectives of each activation.
- Work with the Associate Director on significant budgets, commitments, staffing requirements and strategic decisions.
- Maintain accountability for the quality and successful delivery of events across your accounts.
- 8. Reporting & Performance
- Maintain oversight of KPIs and account performance across your client portfolio.
- Ensure the Senior Account Manager and account teams effectively track results and maintain accurate reporting.
- Review and finalise client reports, ensuring they are insight-driven and demonstrate the value and impact of our work.
- Use reporting to identify learnings, opportunities and recommendations for future activity.
- Present performance and strategic recommendations confidently to clients.
- Identify areas where account performance requires intervention and lead the team in addressing them.
- 9. Account Growth & New Business
- Work closely with the Associate Director to identify opportunities for organic growth across existing accounts.
- Develop a strong understanding of clients’ wider businesses, identifying where additional agency capabilities could add value.
- Proactively bring ideas and opportunities to the Associate Director for consideration and development.
- Support new business development through research, ideation, proposal writing and pitch preparation.
- Take a leading role in relevant new business pitches and presentations alongside the Associate Director and wider senior team.
- Contribute strong fashion, media and cultural insight to agency new business thinking.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging brands, identifying opportunities for both clients and the agency.
