We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join our London team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless coordination, compliance, and delivery of design across multiple workplace projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to safeguard design intent, maintain programme integrity, and uphold Modus’ commitment to technical excellence and design innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with the client’s design guardians and the client themselves to provide a clear and clean sign off process throughout the projects programme.
- Developing Design Release Schedule (DRS) and coordination with MEP design services requirements.
- Creation of design workshop schedules and managing consultant resources to ensure programme dates and milestones are maintained.
- Managing the sub-contractors, consultants and design specialists, alongside the internal project team.
- Analysing the design vision and determining required drawings, schedules and documents required to produce within confident project deadlines.
- Implementing design changes once approved and tracking them whilst managing their negotiation.
- Liaising with Building Control Approved Inspectors.
- Liaising with Fire & Structural Engineers.
- Visiting construction sites and reporting back to senior management.
- Utilisation of Procore to manage documentation, submittals and RFIs within the project’s workflow.
- Evaluating the design intent against CDM and looking for better designed solutions, with the project team, to remove or mitigate risk.
- Including the identification of any changes that have a commercial / programme impact.
- Contributing to both mid bid and post tender interviews including the preparation of document content.
Skills & Experience
- Architectural Degree is highly preferable.
- 6+ years’ experience in the construction industry for Design Manager positions or 10+ years’ experience in the construction industry for senior roles.
- Strong experience with Revit.
- Practical experience with AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to instruct change.
- Deadline-driven, highly focused and committed to the highest quality & standards.
