About the Role
We are looking for an experienced groundworks / roadworks / surfacing Manager to work for an established asphalt surfacing and civil engineering contractor based just south of Birmingham, delivering highways, commercial, and private sector projects across the Midlands and Worcestershire. Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee multiple surfacing contracts from tender through to completion. Note: We are open to Managers of all levels as support and training can be provided if you can prove you have a sound knowledge and understanding within the surfacing / asphalt industry (i.e. Site Supervisor, Site Manager). Basically, if you have industry specific experience and can prove that you can be a competent manager within the industry then we are also happy to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing multiple road surfacing contracts simultaneously
- Overseeing site managers, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, and suppliers
- Programming works and managing labour, plant, and materials
- Ensuring full compliance with health & safety and company procedures
- Preparing valuations, variations, and cost reports
- Attending site meetings and progress reviews
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site / Contracts Manager within surfacing or highways
- Strong knowledge of UK surfacing standards and construction methods
- SMSTS
- CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
