We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Field Service Engineer (MIG & Stick Welding) to join a busy, well-established engineering company based in Telford! This is a dynamic, varied role combining travel to customer sites across the UK with hands-on workshop fabrication, welding, and mechanical maintenance at HQ. You will work on industrial recycling machinery, including balers, performing both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs. The role offers a unique mix of mechanical engineering, welding, and problem-solving, providing variety, responsibility, and career progression.
Our client is open to both:
- Experienced MIG & Stick welders looking to progress into field service engineering, or
- Mechanical Field Service Engineers with strong welding skills.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent position with full training provided!
What you’ll be doing:
- Planned and reactive maintenance of industrial recycling machinery (Balers).
- Carry out mechanical repairs, including MIG and Stick welding on components and assemblies.
- Fabricate and modify parts in the workshop as required.
- Travel to customer sites across the UK.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to customers on equipment use and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate service reports, documentation, and logs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm (1-hour lunch break). Overtime: time over 8 hours/day, Saturdays at time, Sundays double time. Typically, 2 nights away per week.
Pay: £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience).
Skills / Experience Required:
- Strong mechanical background with welding experience (MIG & Stick essential).
- Proven ability to fabricate and assemble metal components.
- A valid UK driving licence is essential.
- Flexibility to travel and stay away from home when required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
