We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join one of our prestigious clients based in Derby! You will lead projects from concept to commissioning, design components, mechanisms, and assemblies in SolidWorks, manage BOMs, oversee sub-contract manufacturing, and ensure compliance with health & safety standards. This is a Full-Time, Permanent position offering fantastic career growth opportunities!
What you'll be doing:
- Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept to commissioning
- Assist in drafting User Requirement & Design Specifications
- Design components, mechanisms, and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Create accurate CAD drawings and manage BOMs
- Oversee sub-contract manufacturing & component procurement
- Provide innovative solutions to machine design challenges
- Conduct prototyping, testing, and commissioning of new machines
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and regulatory standards
- Produce essential documentation, including Operator & Maintenance Instructions
- Work within tight deadlines while maintaining quality and performance standards
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Pay: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Skills/Experience Required:
- Degree-qualified in design, engineering, or a related field
- Strong experience using SolidWorks CAD or similar software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and FileMaker
- Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
- Knowledge of engineering and workshop machinery
- Creative and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A positive, adaptable attitude and a strong work ethic
