Our client is building something different within the commercial interiors sector. Backed by one of the UK’s most established commercial groups, this newly launched consultancy business is operating with the pace, energy and ambition of a startup, while already delivering projects on a serious scale. In less than a year, the business has secured over £9m worth of projects across the UK and internationally, working with some of the most recognisable names across technology, finance, legal and media. Their approach is deliberately different, independent, and consultancy-led. It allows them to think more creatively, move more dynamically and deliver highly tailored solutions for every client they work with.

They are now looking for a Midweight Designer to become one of the key pillars of the business as it continues to grow. This is not a role where you sit within a large design team waiting for direction. It would suit somebody who enjoys ownership, autonomy and responsibility. Somebody comfortable leading projects, managing relationships directly with clients and architects and taking ideas from concept through to installation without needing layers of support around them. You would work closely with the Director in a highly collaborative environment, helping shape both projects and the future direction of the business itself. For the right person, it is an opportunity to step into a role with genuine influence much earlier than would typically happen within a larger organisation.

The projects themselves are varied, fast-moving and design-led. One week could involve furniture consultancy for a large workplace project, the next could see you developing technical drawing packages, leading workshops, producing presentations or coordinating installations across multiple stakeholders. The role would suit somebody who enjoys balancing creativity with technical detail and who thrives in an environment where no two days feel the same.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design process from brief through to final installation
  • Space planning and technical drawing production
  • Producing proposal packs, specification documents and presentation material
  • Creating visuals and graphics for client presentations
  • Coordinating with architects, clients and project teams
  • Managing multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Supporting furniture consultancy and product specification
  • Taking ownership of both creative and technical project delivery

The business is looking for somebody with:

  • Around 4+ years of experience within commercial workplace design or furniture consultancy
  • Strong AutoCAD capability across 2D and 3D
  • Experience working directly with clients and external design teams
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • A proactive and self-sufficient mindset
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • A strong understanding of workplace furniture and space planning
  • A genuine interest in design, materials and emerging products

What makes this opportunity particularly exciting is the environment itself. The business is in its early stages, so the right person will have real visibility, influence, and opportunities to grow with it. It offers the energy and pace of a startup, but with the backing, reputation and project pipeline of a highly established group behind it.

Salary and benefits include:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience + annual bonus
  • Private healthcare
