Modus Careers is partnering with a design studio where ideas are expected to leave the page and stand up on site. Based in a characterful studio in the Essex countryside, our client delivers hospitality interiors that balance brand narrative with technical rigour. This is a practice rooted in delivery, not decoration, where design thinking is carried through to the last detail on site.
We are now looking for a Senior Interior Designer or Interior Architect who is confident operating at the sharp end of projects. Someone who understands that great hospitality design is not just about how a space looks, but how it is built, coordinated and delivered under real-world constraints. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility across both design leadership and site execution.
The immediate focus is a nationwide hospitality rollout programme, typically delivering between ten and fourteen live projects per year. You will take ownership of multiple sites, leading design development, coordinating consultants and supporting contract administration through to handover. Travel is a core part of the role, and a UK driving licence is essential. This is not a studio-bound position, and it is not a visualisation role. It suits someone comfortable on site, understands construction processes and enjoys being accountable for the outcome, not just the concept.
What you will be doing:
- Leading projects from concept through to on-site delivery and completion
- Interpreting briefs and translating them into brand-led, buildable design solutions
- Producing and overseeing technical drawings, schedules and design information
- Leading FF&E specification, procurement and coordination
- Supporting contract administration and attending site meetings
- Managing relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Travelling nationwide to oversee projects and maintain design quality on site
What you will bring:
- A degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
- Proven experience delivering commercial or hospitality interiors
- Hands-on experience working on-site and supporting contract administration
- A strong technical understanding of construction, detailing and joinery
- Confidence in managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and InDesign
- A full UK driving licence
Why join:
- Salary up to £50,000, depending on experience
- 25 days of annual leave
- Performance-related bonuses twice each year
- Tailored development plans, CPDs and structured mentoring
- Immediate exposure to brand-defining hospitality projects across the UK
This is a role for a senior designer who wants responsibility, trust and influence. Someone who values the full lifecycle of a project and takes pride in seeing their work built properly. For the right person, it offers long-term progression within a studio that genuinely respects both creativity and delivery.
