Do you want to be hands-on in embedded payments, while continuously learning and developing in a dynamic environment? Do you want to play an important role in one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintech companies? If the answer is yes, we’d love to connect with you!
We’re looking to hire passionate, talented individuals to join Modulr, one of the fastest-growing payments businesses in the UK and Europe. This role will focus on leading and managing CDD (Customer Due Diligence) and Compliance Assessments for our clients.
The Role: As a Corporate Onboarding Associate, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and executing CDD & Compliance Assessments for our clients. You’ll be part of our First Line Operations function, responsible for mitigating risks related to our services as an Electronic Money Institution. Your primary focus will be on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and Sanctions control, while also ensuring compliance with broader business objectives such as proposition and FCA Consumer Duty. Specifically, this role operates in line with UK regulatory requirements, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, JMLSG Guidance, and FCA expectations. Given the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, we’re looking for someone with a sharp, inquisitive mindset, ready to dive deep into compliance and regulatory matters. In this growing team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and implement best practices for a market-leading compliance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Customer Due Diligence, including Simplified and Enhanced Due Diligence.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Screen clients for Politically Exposed Persons and Sanctioned Individuals, including screening against UK financial sanctions lists administered by the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) and HM Treasury.
- Review and recommend changes to compliance policies and procedures to align with Modulr’s regulatory requirements.
Who You Are:
The ideal Corporate Onboarding Associate will thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment and be comfortable with change and ambiguity. You bring hands-on experience in compliance and onboarding, with:
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in Customer Due Diligence (CDD), KYB, or Audit roles.
- Proven ability to identify compliance issues through analytical review.
- Comfortable operating in a regulated financial services environment.
- An ICA (International Compliance Association) qualification in AML, KYC, or Compliance is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with EU/Dutch financial crime frameworks (Wwft, Sanctiewet 1970) or broader EU AML Directives (AMLD4/5/6) is desirable, given Modulr’s cross-border operations across the UK and Europe.
- Solid understanding of UK financial crime regulations, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (MLR 2017), JMLSG Guidance, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), Terrorism Act 2000, and FCA financial crime rules (SYSC 6), ensuring effective risk mitigation and collaboration with the second-line team.
- Experience in a compliance or onboarding role within financial services, particularly in Corporate Client Due Diligence (KYB) and AML procedures across various sectors or jurisdictions.
- Skilled at analysing data to identify patterns, risks, or anomalies—particularly in onboarding and audit processes.
- Accurate and thorough in handling compliance documentation, reporting, and identifying areas of risk.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
- High ethical standards with a strong sense of responsibility and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage competing tasks and projects effectively, taking ownership of compliance processes.
- Flexible in the face of regulatory or operational change, and proactive in finding solutions.
