At Modulek we’re transforming the way buildings are designed and delivered through modern methods of construction (MMC), modular solutions, and offsite manufacturing. As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a talented and technically‑minded Architect to join our expanding team.
The Role
As an Architect at Modulek, you will play a key role in developing innovative, practical and compliant design solutions that align with client objectives while maximising the benefits of modular construction. You’ll work closely with internal teams, consultants, engineers, contractors and clients to ensure projects progress smoothly through planning, technical design, manufacture and construction. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine architectural design excellence with technical coordination and project delivery within a fast‑paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative and technically robust design solutions for modular construction projects.
- Produce planning applications, design documentation, technical drawings and construction packages.
- Lead projects through all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work.
- Manage Information Release Schedules (IRS) for building and MEP packages.
- Monitor and update project Risk Registers and Design Risk Assessments (DRA).
- Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, planning requirements and relevant industry standards.
- Coordinate effectively with structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors and specialist consultants.
- Manage technical design development and resolve design challenges throughout project delivery.
- Support compliance with Building Regulations, NHBC Standards and Employer's Requirements.
- Assist in managing BREEAM requirements through appointed consultants, ensuring cost‑effective compliance.
- Assist with CDM compliance, health and safety requirements and design risk management.
- Prepare specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
- Maintain quality standards in line with company procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Review client briefs, Employer's Requirements (ERs), specifications and drawings to ensure project compliance.
- Assist in resolving design‑related discrepancies and technical issues whilst supporting continuous improvement and innovation within the design and technical teams.
About You
We’re looking for an Architect who combines strong design ability with excellent technical knowledge and a passion for delivering high‑quality projects.
- Qualified Architect with relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience working across multiple RIBA work stages.
- Strong technical design and detailing capability.
- Experience producing planning submissions, technical packages and construction information.
- Excellent understanding of Building Regulations and planning processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Experience working closely with clients and stakeholders to develop successful project outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience within modular construction, off‑site manufacturing, MMC or Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
- Experience in commercial, education, healthcare or public sector projects.
- Knowledge of contract administration and construction‑stage services.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and design risk management.
- Experience working within quality management systems and ISO 9001 processes.
