Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Transformation Office as Operations Finance Lead, supporting the delivery of our 2030 Transformation Programme. This senior individual contributor role will provide financial oversight across operational workstreams, partnering with Finance, Strategy and Programme Management to support robust investment decisions, effective cost control and clear financial reporting to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment & Business Cases: Review and challenge investment proposals, validate assumptions, costs and benefits, and provide clear financial recommendations and risk escalation. Support workstream leads in developing robust business cases where required.
- Financial Reporting: Own the Transformation Office financial reporting cycle, including monthly performance reporting, SteerCo and executive packs, variance analysis and decision-ready financial narratives.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting, maintaining alignment between programme financials, near-term targets and the broader 2030 ambition.
- Financial Modelling: Develop and maintain complex cost models to support investment, resourcing and build-vs-buy decisions.
- Risk & Governance: Identify and elevate financial risks, ensure appropriate controls over programme expenditure, including contractor and capital commitments, and maintain audit-ready financial records.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary Finance interface for the Transformation Office, partnering with workstream leads, the CFO Office, Regional and Group Finance, and senior programme leadership.
Experience & Skills
- Significant finance experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Proven experience supporting large-scale transformation or change programmes, including budget ownership and financial governance.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Experience producing executive, Board or SteerCo-level reporting.
- Strong commercial and business acumen, particularly around people, supplier and contractor costs.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Track record of supporting operational transformation programmes delivering multi-million-pound value creation.
- Experience with PMO/Transformation Office frameworks and governance.
- Experience in a UK-based, internationally matrixed organisation.
- Exposure to contractor workforce management and procurement governance.
