The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.
We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions.
If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.
Founded in 2019, we're 90+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.
This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.
The Role
We're hiring a Nordic Market Analyst to build Modo Energy's coverage of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. Customers ask us about these markets constantly. You'll own them.
You'll start by publishing research that makes Modo Energy the reference point for how batteries earn revenue in the Nordics.
From there, you'll build the benchmarks that turn that coverage into a product.
Then you'll work with our European forecast team to bring the region into our forecast models.
Our coverage is primarily battery energy storage, alongside solar and wind, and we expect it to broaden further.
This is a hands‑on, AI-native role.
This role is based in London.
You'll be part of our Germany+ team, reporting to the Market Head for Germany, Italy, and Poland, and working closely with our European forecasting team.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Train Ko, our AI analyst, on the Nordics: ingest new datasets as they land, build the sample queries that teach Ko to answer well.
- Publish research on Nordic BESS revenues, buildout, and market design, establishing Modo Energy as the market's reference point.
- Map and automate the underlying data, for example from Svenska kraftnät, Fingrid, Energinet, Statnett, e Sett, Nord Pool, EPEX SPOT, and ENTSO‑E, so that coverage is repeatable.
- Build a grid‑scale BESS asset and capacity register for the region, covering operational, under construction, and pipeline projects.
- Build and ship Nordic benchmarks, working with engineering and the wider pod to deploy them to customers on the Modo Energy Terminal.
- Work with the European forecast team to bring Nordic markets into the forecast product, and hold a view on which markets should be modelled and when.
- Be the person customers speak to on the Nordics, joining calls as the market expert and building a public profile in the region
What We're Looking For
- The Essentials
- You're comfortable building tools and workflows using AI.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in power markets, energy analytics, data, or a technical analyst role.
- You can work in Python and SQL, interrogate complex datasets, and pick up new tools quickly.
- Familiarity with battery energy storage or wider energy transition themes.
- You can write clearly and get to the point. Our research is answer‑first, and you'll be publishing from early on.
- You're comfortable owning a market with very little scaffolding around you.
- Nice To Have
- Market expertise in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, or Norway, particularly the frequency response and balancing markets.
- A working knowledge of a Nordic language.
- Experience with data pipelines or workflow orchestration.
- Experience taking a market from no coverage to published product.
- What You Can Expect From Us
At Modo Energy, we believe that exceptional work deserves exceptional reward.
We're a high‑performance team; ambitious, collaborative, and genuinely motivated by the scale of what we're trying to build.
You'll have real ownership from day one, work alongside some of the brightest people in the industry, and be part of a company that's defining a new category in the global energy market.
We're hybrid: everyone works Tuesday to Thursday in office, with Monday and Friday flexible.
We offer top‑of‑market compensation, equity for every employee, and the space to take your career wherever you want it to go.
We're looking for people who want to do the best work of their careers. If that's you, we want to talk.
